The advances in surgical techniques and
procedures over the last century have been stupendous. That which was
considered fatal till a generation ago is now treatable through surgery.
However, surgery is not a silver bullet that promises to cure every medical
problem. It contains both, the best and worst of traditional medicine. The advances
made in the field have saved countless lives, but they have also given doctors an
escape route when they cannot diagnose or treat a medical condition. Not all doctors
subscribe to the theory of “when in doubt, cut’” but a frighteningly large
number do.
The Problem with Surgery

There is a common misconception that
homeopathic medicine is anti-surgery.
Homeopaths acknowledge that there are some conditions that can only be treated
through surgery, but it must be the last resort. The problem with traditional
medicine is that surgery is often used even when the body is still able to heal
itself without invasive treatment. It is also used when other treatments that are
safer with fewer side effects and shorter recovery periods are still available.
Another issue is that even a “successful” operation
does not always mean a cure. Removing an organ like a kidney or a tumor may resolve
the immediate problem, but the underlying cause of the issue may still remain.
Complications for a surgical procedure may appear years after the “successful”
operation was done.
Homeopathy and Surgery
It must be understood that homeopathy is
not against surgery when it is used judiciously; it is the one-size-fits-all
solution to medical problems that homeopathy is against. A homeopathic doctor
will try to use a homeopathic remedy or a combination of them to try to cure a
medical condition. The results may be surprisingly good to those who do not know
this branch of medicine. In the few instances where the results of homeopathic treatments are not what is desired, then the surgical option can be explored.
If the need for surgery is confirmed,
homeopathy can be used to reduce possible complications and to improve the
quality and pace of the healing process. Patients are told not to eat, drink or
consume any non-prescribed medication before the surgery. This is sensible but
there has never been any reported instances of problems
arising from taking homeopathic medicines prior to the procedure. There are
medicines to:
- Reduce hemorrhage and infections
- Reduce pre and post-surgical anxiety
- Reduce post-surgery pain and agitation
- Reduce the inflammation caused by extended use of intravenous (IV) therapy
- Help restore balance to the system and promote recovery
- And much more
Consult a Homeopathic Doctor
While the effectiveness and safety of
homeopathy are well established and beyond question, self-medication is never a
good idea. If you have been told that you require surgery, consult a homeopathic doctor to see if there are
alternatives and if not, how homeopathy can help in both the procedure itself
and the recovery. The doctor will discuss the matter with the surgeon to develop
a combined treatment protocol that will maximize the surgical results and will
help in a speedy recovery.
