  • Aconite: This is used for treating the anxiety that commonly occurs in stages during pregnancy.
  • Arnica: Soft tissue stress and damage commonly occur during childbirth. Arnica is used to treat this and is also used to reduce the bruising as well as swelling that are often present.
  • Bellis Perennis: If soft tissue damage and pain is more severe than usual and does not respond to treatment with Arnica, Bellis Perennis is used to heal abdominal tissue damage, bruising, sores and pain.
  • Caulophyllum: This is often prescribed prior to childbirth to strengthen and tone up the cervix and uterus to ease the delivery process and to reduce the physical stress the mother undergoes. It is also effective in inducing contractions during the birthing process.
  • Cimicifuga: This is often prescribed in place of Caulophyllum if the need is to produce coordinated contractions. It is also effective in reducing the mother’s stress and anxiety level.
  • Gelsemium: This is used when labor is moving slower than expected.  It helps to improve the progress. It is also effective in reducing prenatal stress levels in the expectant mother.
  • Hypericum: If caesarian has been performed, then Hyericum helps in healing perineal wounds and other post-procedure side effects. In addition, it is effective in soothing post procedure stress and anxiety levels.
  • Kali Carbonicum: In cases where the contraction pain is felt predominantly in the back, this is used to ease the pain and discomfort.
  • Nux Vomica: This is also used to ease the pain of contractions in the back and is commonly prescribed when the pain extends down to the buttocks and thighs.
  • Staphysagria: This has a dual effect. It speeds the healing process of any injury that may have occurred during childbirth. It is also effective in calming the mother and alleviating mood swings, anger, resentment and other negative emotions that often appear after the child is born
Consult a Doctor

As discussed in part 1, homeopathic medications are safe to use because they contain small amounts of naturally occurring substances to enable the body to improve its response to medical conditions and recover in a quick and holistic manner. They do not just offer remedies, they also work to enhance the comfort of women during pregnancy. That being said, as with any form of medication, using the right medicine for a condition is critical to ensure that cure is quick, effective and complete. For this reason, it is always essential to consult a qualified homeopathic doctor so that an accurate diagnosis of the condition can be arrived at and suitable medication prescribed that will ensure the best result.
